Semi – professional artists, largely based in the UK, who can demonstrate an emerging trajectory, and / or are within 5 years or completing post graduate studies. There is no age limit for applicants.
An artist can apply individually, in collaboration with another artist / artists, or as part of a formal collective.
The residency involves one to two weeks on a canal boat on the Grand Union Canal during the first two weeks of July 2017, with the support of the boating hire company and the MK Marina. A volunteer helmsman will be available to steer the boat if necessary. The artist(s) must be available to occupy the boat for at least 7 of the 14 days that the boat is hired for.
A workshop style studio space, or a clean space is available at the marina / other canal side buildings by arrangement.

We may be able to contribute towards travel costs, and will assess the circumstances of shortlisted applicants on a case by case basis.
Interviews will take places and the Canal & River Trust head offices, Elder Gate, Milton Keynes, directly above the railway station MK91BB. Up to 8 Artists / collectives will be interviewed.
Images: check that each of your image files are 500kb or less and that they are the accepted file types (either JPG, TIFF, or PNG.)
CV and Statement: check that your CV and statement are either Microsoft Word docs, RTF files or similar, or that they are pdf’s, and that they have the appropriate suffix, i.e.: .doc, .docx, pdf, .txt, or .rtf.
